Importance of Cyber Security
“For every lock there is someone out there trying to pick it or break it”
–David Bernstein, President, Bernstein Agency.
Cyber space is no exception when it comes to hacking and manipulation. In Q3 2016 alone, 18 million new malware samples were captured. This shows the audacity of the hackers to come up with new codes to break into your system or machine.
Cyber-Security is not just the need of this moment but an indispensable necessity of the hour. With the advent of smart cities and IoT, a whole city or an entire industry is at the risk of being hacked into which would not only result into billion dollar loses but can disrupt day to day lives of millions of people. Hence it is prime responsibility of every institution to safeguard their own data and systems from cyber leeches.
Cyber-Security is not a one-time process but an ever improving continuous responsibility which has to have zero downtime. It does not take more than few seconds for a hacker to intrude into the biggest database or system. An agile institution would keep itself updated of the newer threats in the cyber space and will update their defence accordingly.
While a lot of big companies and spending huge on developing driverless cars, the cyber risk aspect of this new concept is also being worked out in the background. Anything which is connected to the network is vulnerable of cyber-attacks and driverless cars would not be an exception.
Cyber-Security Industry is tipped to be worth $200 billion by 2021. Companies like Cisco who are primarily into networking have developed programs like Advanced Security Appliance which ensure the overall network security. This just shows the urgency and importance of Cyber-Security in today’s day and age.
The penetration of mobile devices has posed a new challenge to the security experts; it has been difficult to safeguard these devices on an individual level. With open system operating systems like OS hackers have come up with new ways to steal your data and use it for their benefits. Time and again Google has tried to ensure that their OS is extremely safe, the open source coding has always raised their own doubts.
As the technological advancements keep amazing us, the threat to the network will also keep the experts on their toes and spurn them on to develop secure codes which are self-sustainable.
With this we can conclude that no matter how many thieves are out there to break the locks, the lock smith has to be one step ahead of them.
